Our team is growing, and now we welcome Mathias Bäcklund to Gaia. He has many years of experience in development, but also brings knowledge of beekeeping and karate. We spoke with him to find out more!

Welcome to Gaia! How does it feel to be here?

It feels good! I like that many people are working from the office and it’s so social. Everyone is friendly, and it feels familial coming here!

Where are you from?

I grew up in Söderköping and moved to Norrköping when I started studying. Then I stayed and still enjoy it! Today, I live in a house with my wife and our three children. I like that everything is so close by in Norrköping and that most things are available here.

What did you do before you started here?

I’ve been working as a consultant for a very long time, both as a developer and project manager. Most recently, I was involved in projects with new development, which has been fun since I got to be there from the start. But now I’m excited to get started at Gaia!

Nice! What got you interested in joining Gaia?

It felt exciting that Gaia has started focusing on its own product, and also that you stick to new technology within the Microsoft domain. Especially the latest technology in cloud services!

What do you like to code the most?

I mostly enjoy backend programming and the logic behind everything that happens. However, much of the new technology in Azure is new to me, so I’m looking forward to expanding my skills in that area here at Gaia.

What do you do when you’re not in the office?

I spend a lot of time working on the house and garden, but I’m also into beekeeping. I have my own beehives, so in the summer, we spin our own honey! Also, I’ve been practicing karate for five years.

We’re excited that Mathias has become a part of our team. Are you also interested in working at Gaia? Read more at our Career Page.
