With access to real-time information, the demand for real-time functions also increases, something many are not yet prepared for. It could involve smarter signage, changes in ongoing traffic, and extended information for travelers with special needs. This sets entirely new demands on the structure of real-time systems and their ability to act on streamed data. Next-generation real-time systems can scale up and handle the dramatically increasing amount of information, also enabling the creation of real-time functions that have not been feasible before.
